My approach is ideal for clients who are interested in actively creating a joyful life. I think of the counseling process as a journey, and on the road of life you are in charge of choosing your own destination, mapping out possible routes, and driving the bus. My role as a therapist is to serve as a neutral sounding board, to encourage you to approach your journey with curiosity, and to teach the skills necessary to remain mindful of your feelings, to use your values to guide personal choices, and to reframe unhelpful thoughts while honoring your experiences. Also, like any good copilot, I will occasionally provide snacks.

I offer a warm, supportive, and collaborative therapeutic presence. I value transparency and have a direct but empathetic communication style. My special interests include compassion fatigue, burnout, emotional regulation, ADHD skills, assertiveness training, boundary setting, anxiety, grief, & pet loss support. I am proud to provide LGBTQIA+ affirming care.

I integrate concepts from solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT), DBT-informed therapy, and existential therapy to provide a customized counseling experience based on the unique needs of each client. I invite you to reach out to set up a free 10-15 minute phone consultation to see if I’m the right therapist for you!

I am an Associate Licensed Counselor under the supervision of Jane Sweeney, LPC-S, of Sojourner Counseling in Madison, AL.
